People, cafes, vendors, street merchants, buskers, historic buildings, art installations and much more. The power of observation underpins the art of great street photography. Learning to "see" interesting detail is a practised skill and we introduce you to easy methods that will open your photographer's eye and expose you to a world that is alive with detail. The most rewarding part of the class is learning how to approach interesting people and have them willingly pose for you.

We will also go over settings, focusing techniques and lens choices common to street photography to help us capture those random chance encounters.

Ready to learn more about your camera and get out of automatic exposure? Now is your chance!

Join us as we break down your camera to help you learn about shutter speed, aperture, ISO and how these settings affect your exposure.

We will then put your new knowledge to the test with the guidance of a professional photographer.

The best way to start to take control of your image making is to learn the how to shoot in manual mode. We can then use the aperture, or f: stop, to control the amount of focus we want in the image, or set the shutter speed to freeze action or blur motion. These two functions will take your photography to another level of creativity. Along with the Aperture and shutter settings, we will learn to set the ISO setting to help us get the right exposure for the picture. It all comes together by learning to use your cameras exposure meter correctly.

I like to believe that a Philadelphia staple is the market - Frankford elevated train line. I personally also believe that one of the most coveted seats on the train is the very front seat of the very front car. I have lived in Philadelphia my entire life and honestly have only sat in this seat a handful of times. So when I get that opportunity, that magical number I'd like to take a few photos of that perspective. Along the Market- Frankford line there are many beautiful sites to see

Nishin Soba - Kyoto: A bowl of buckwheat noodles served with dried herring simmered in soy sauce, mirin sweet cooking rice wine and sugar. Back in the Edo period, the Pacific herring caught in abundance in Esachi-cho was transported to the main land of Japan after being gutted and dried for preservation. Depending on the weather or season, the people of Esashi-cho choose to eat their local specialty soba noodles hot or cold.

I had visited a restaurant in the Northeast section of Philadelphia that has not reopen in several years. This image was taken with my Samsung Galaxy smartphone as I decided to practice compositions of food. The wontons tray that I ordered caught my eye and I captured the shot. I also edited my image in the Adobe Light Room application.

For 2 weeks every winter Sydney is lit up with amazing colours and beams of light over the Harbour Bridge, Opera House, and various buildings throughout the city.
